Mihael Blikshteyn Photography is a creative photography business specializing in lifestyles, fisheries, tourism and conservation issues. My primary coverage areas are Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and California North Coast. I do commercial and editorial work, and have an extensive image stock. I also retail and wholesale a number of photographic products, both independently and through an agency.

I am a fishery biologist by training. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, I grew up in New York City, but have called Juneau, Alaska my home since 2001. I have traveled extensively in Alaska: from the rainy Southeast to the windy Aleutians, from the swampy western Alaska to the Interior, but have always returned to Juneau. I have also spent time in Tanzania (East Africa), Chile (South America), and Hawaii, and visited Israel, the Netherlands, Argentina, and Kenya.

In January of 2010, I took a sabbatical from Alaska, moving to Arcata, northern California to explore and photograph the Pacific Northwest and the California North Coast. My plan is to spend a year or two in northern California before returning to Juneau.

With a fisheries background, I especially enjoy photographing aspects of commercial fisheries, conservation, and ocean-related activities.
